Westford Friends of East Boston Camps

Free Family Fun Events

The Friends of East Boston Camps sponsor three seasonal events each year with the goal of providing "free family fun" at the Camps.

On May 20, 2012 we'll host our very popular Spring BBQ. The event includes free food, drink, live music, hayrides, swimming, games and nature walks. Our Spring BBQs have been enjoyed by both local residents and previous campers who travel to Westford to see their old camp grounds. Check out the pictures below from one of our previous BBQs.

NEW THIS YEAR: 50/50 Raffle to benefit the camps! One lucky winner will share in the winnings! Bring your wallet.

Our Fall Foliage Festival will be on Sunday, September 30 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm. This is a beautiful time of year to celebrate at the camps. We have hay rides, bobbing for apples, camp fires and marshmallow toasting and lots more. To earn money for the support of the camps we have a silent auction in the dining hall. We have lots of unique one of a kind items. Previous auctions have included items such as a brunch at Ellen Harde's house on Main St and a ride for a child in the fire engine at the Apple Blossom festival.

In January, the Friends host our WinterFest event at East Boston Camps, continuing our tradition of "Free Family Fun". This event celebrates the winter beauty of the Camps. We clear and surface an ice skating rink on Burges Pond, host an ice fishing demonstration on the pond, and provide opportunities to try cross country skiing, snowshoeing and other winter sports. The popular haywagon brings visitors from the parking area to the Recreation Hall, where they are welcomed by a roaring fire in the fireplace, along with live music, hot drinks, cookies, and marshmallows. Volunteers offer guided nature walks and for the young, or young-at-heart, there is a snow sculpture contest.
